Grilled Shiitake Mushrooms with Sesame Seeds

1 T. toasted sesame seeds
Approx. 1 lb. fresh, medium shiitake mushrooms
2 T. teriyaki sauce
2 T. mirin
1 T. sugar
1 T. finely chopped chives or green onions
1 T. sesame oil
10 chives or 3 green onions, sliced diagonally for garnish

Wipe mushroom with damp cloth and discard the stalks. Put the mushrooms in a shallow dish. Combine all ingredients except the garnish and pour over the mushrooms and leave for 5 – 10 minutes.

Put the mushrooms on a greased baking tray, brush with half the marinade and grill under a preheated hot grill for 5 minutes. Turn the mushrooms over, brush with remaining marinade and grill for another 5 minutes or until browned. Garnish mushrooms with roasted sesame seeds and chopped chives or green onions.
